If you’ve ever wandered into a Key West bar and been swept away by the sound of a live band, you’ve felt what Ralph De Palma has spent over fifteen years capturing. A dedicated photojournalist based in Key West, Ralph brings the island’s music scene to life—one image, one story at a time.

Through The Soul of Key West book series, Ralph De Palma gives you an intimate look into the lives of over 150 local musicians. Their stories are personal. Their performances unforgettable. It all began in 2011, after the Key West Musicians Festival. Ralph’s wife encouraged him to create a photo book. At first, it was a casual project. However, it quickly evolved into something far more meaningful. Interviews replaced captions. Stories took center stage. As a result, a heartfelt chronicle of a world-class music scene was born.
Volume I features 46 interviews and more than 200 photos. Volume II adds even more depth with 65 musicians and 160+ powerful images. And now, The Soul of Key West, Volume III is available—highlighting legends like Shel Silverstein and Michael McCloud, plus today’s rising local stars.
Each book is a tribute. A love letter to the music of this island.
