Congratulations, Tortuga Jack, on being named Key West’s Poet Laureate.
Jack Hackett succeeds Arlo Haskell as the island’s official poet.
Hackett has been in Key West for more than 30 years, appearing at poetry slams and other literary events.
The nickname Tortuga Jack comes from years of doing guided tours aboard the Yankee Freedom trips to the Dry Tortugas.
