Every October, just before the big Fantasy Fest week kicks off, the streets of Bahama Village fill with the rhythm of drums, the scent of island food, and the spirit of celebration. The Key West Goombay Festival is two days of pure island joy — a colorful mix of music, food, and culture that honors the deep Bahamian roots woven into Key West’s soul.

Expect the streets around Petronia and Fort to transform into one big block party — with steel drums, reggae beats, and conch fritters sizzling on the grill. Locals and visitors dance together under the palm lights, kids chase bubbles through the crowd, and the air smells like fried plantains and fun. Goombay is a walk-in festival — the streets are closed to cars, so bring your comfy shoes and enjoy the stroll.

Goombay isn’t just an event — it’s a homecoming. You’ll see families who’ve lived in Bahama Village for generations celebrating side by side with first-time visitors who can’t help but fall in love with the island’s energy.

Goombay Festival takes place the first Friday and Saturday of Fantasy Fest. Bahama Village comes alive with color, music, and culture. The celebration runs from noon through the evening. Start your weekend at the OurKeyWest Welcome Lounge (613 Simonton Street) for maps, local tips, and a refreshing drink. Then head to Petronia Street to join the fun.
